about the cfv movie
this is more like a memo to myself so i don't forget about it..
alright, the cfv movie. it starts with kai and aichi playing against each other. suddenly aichi spaces out and finds himself on the planet of cray which is basically in flames. blaster blade approaches him and tells him about a catastrophe, but then someone interferes. aichi snaps out of his "daydream" and reveals to the viewer that he's been having these dreams every day for a while now.
new scene, kai and aichi are over at aichi's place and watch an announcement regarding a new tournament which is held by.. takuto. eh. ultra rare is there too, of course. the only people allowed to participate in the tournament are those who have received a written invitation and the tournament will commence in ten days.
fun side note: aichi's mom is really excited that kai is over, since aichi doesn't bring home friends very often. she says, if she was 20 years younger she wouldn't leave him alone............. emi tells her not to say stuff like this in front of her daughter even though she knows her mom is young at heart.
kai and aichi leave aichi's room since kai is apparently heading home now. there's an earthquake and they both rush back to aichi's room where they see a giant red orb in the sky.. it's not the sun thoughlol, it's the planet of brandt which is picking a fight with the planet of cray.

there's a broadcast that all over the world, vanguard units are disappearing from their cards. they're investigating it, but they don't know what's causing it. meanwhile, ren gets challenged by a guy with a bird on his shoulder. he loses and the units in his vanguard cards disappear immediately. the guy with the bird walks away with ren's invitation to the vanguard tournament, saying that he has earned it since they bet on it before the match commenced. THE Yahagi Kyou lost his invitations to the stranger too, btw ;(
a few days later, aichi, kai, misaki and kamui head off to where the tournament takes place. upon reaching the stadium, they get greeted by a massive crowd who has been invited to be spectators. miwa, emi, team handsome, team brilliant stars and a few others are there too. they also meet leon, koutei, christopher lo, gaillard and neve. ratie didn't make any appearance besides a small cameo in which her units disappeared btw, which makes me very bitter..
since only half of the invited players are here, the crowd gets confused. the guy with the bird, aka ibuki kouji, makes his appearance and throws the invitations he received by defeating the other invited players on the ground. miwa and kai recognize him and they reveal that they know him. takuto decides to start the tournament either way. in the end, koutei, gaillard, neve and christopher lose against kai, misaki, kamui and leon. aichi notices that everyone is out of breath and wonders how everyone got so winded by playing vanguard.
aichi and ibuki fight against each other, which ends with aichi losing and having to receive medical aid. he later wakes up in his room and wonders about blaster blade, who disappeared after he lost against ibuki.
takuto and ultra rare talk to each other and it's revealed that harmonics messiah, a unit that is? asleep? can save the world (which means both earth and cray, since both planets' fates are intertwined) but they have to give the card to someone with a pure heart or something.. basically not aichi because he lost LMAO
ibuki is seen sitting in the rain like a good troubled villain. his bird is somewhere too. seriously, what's up with the bird. misaki sees him and gets challenged to a fight apparently, as leon finds her passed out in between black cards (= vanished vanguard units) a bit later. he then gets challenged by ibuki too.
kai, aichi and the rest demand answers from takuto. he tells them about harmonics messiah. apparently aichi can still become the one to receive this unit if he manages to defeat takuto in some spoohoohooky underground training facility. also, psyqualia is needed to receive harmonics messiah because psyqualia resembles a strong bond between vanguard fighters and their units.
while they head there, miwa tells naoki and the others about ibuki kouji and the past he shares with kai and miwa.. ibuki used to get bullied in elementary school but he eventually taught miwa how to play vanguard. miwa then asks him to teach it to kai, but kai doesn't even recognize who ibuki is and then apologizes because he's not good at remembering faces.. eventually, kai gets fed up with the game because he can't win. after he leaves, ibuki wonders whether he should have lost on purpose, but miwa reassures him he shouldn't do that because it's mean towards your opponent. besides, kai tends to get really fired up when he isn't good at something so he'll just keep playing with ibuki until he wins.
at the training facility, aichi agrees to defeat takuto, but takuto tells him that this temple (yup) the tournament is being held at was build on sacred ground and therefore his vanguard skills are at his peak and he can use his full potential. he also says that players receive the damage done to their units, which explains why everyone was so out of breath after fighting ibuki.. and why aichi needed a doctor after he lost against ibuki. anyways, cue aichi losing countless times in a row. eventually, his vanguard units speak to him and tell him that they admire his dedication and his resolve to put his life on the line so blaster blade can return eventually.
the next day, the spectators are told that ibuki challenged misaki and leon and they're out of commotion because of him. ibuki has to fight against kamui, who gets injured throughout the fight, and loses. afterwards, it's kai's turn to fight against ibuki, since he's the #1 seed and well finale and stuff. aichi appears with blaster blade having returned to him. an earthquake happens and ultra rare evacuate the spectators. the planet of brandt can be seen by everyone, both at the tournament location, as well as anywhere on the world.
meanwhile, ibuki decides to take on kai and aichi at the same time, the first side to have 10 damage points, loses.
blah fight blah more flashbacks to ibuki's childhood.. apparently the kids he played vanguard against got fed up with him because he lost on purpose and even the teachers told him that this is why he couldn't find friends. it seems that he's all alone now, since kai moved away after his parents died and miwa ????? really what was miwa doing he should've been by his side.
misaki tries to tell aichi and kai that the real enemy isn't ibuki, but someone else, but they eventually find out themselves.. ibuki's memory was manipulated by the deleter unit oksizz, from the stray planet of brandt, which has driven him to believe that vanguard needed to be deleted. since vanguard plays a big role on earth, he decided that destroying earth was the best thing to do.
throughout the fight, aichi received harmonics messiah and.. fuses with it.. HE'S NAKED WITH WINGS LOL.. they defeat ibuki/oksizz and peace returns to both the earth and cray. ibuki gets mad at oksizz, since oksizz manipulated his memories, and throws the card into the abyss.
at the port, aichi and friends say goodbye to ibuki, but before he leaves, aichi gives him harmonics messiah. harmonics messiah transforms from a grade 4 card to a grade 0 card and is now called neon messiah - yeah, epic movie title drop right there. ibuki laughs for the first time and says "my, what a small messiah" before he leaves.
since peace is returned to earth, the vanguard units come back to their cards. shin, morikawa and izaki comment that it felt like they all had the same, really long daydream.
and that's it. sounds like a lot happened, but it was actually really boring.. sighs. ah yes, regarding takuto: i'm having trouble where to put this movie chronologically. it's clearly set after link joker, however, takuto disappears at the end of link joker, same for kourin's memory of everyone. aichi and everyone else know gaillard and neve, and kai uses legion once, which means the movie is set after legion mate. i'm not sure whether kourin remembers misaki and the others, since they don't interact directly, if i remember this right. still, takuto being there and nobody batting a lash about it confuses me greatly.
whatever, canon logic never applied to anime movies anyways. i'm just left with this one nagging question.. what's up with the bird, ibuki?? like does it have a name, is it his pet, did he get it at villain-o-mart or something

Who are the Deletors?"Brandt", the wandering planet that strays in the universe and devours the existence of everything standing in its orbit, had once appeared on the marching path of "Link Joker"'s main force long time ago. Billions of soldiers were devoured by Brandt and were thought to be destroyed, but there were survivors who managed to adapt to the planet's environment. They have spent ages to familiarize their bodies with the planet, and succeeded in developing a symbiotic relationship with the ominously-formed creatures parasiting Brandt. "Link Joker" refers to them as "Deletors", and releases them into the universe once again. They, who are now predominating the planet's environment, continue to trample across the galaxies with Brandt.
